Deco Lighting is an active member of the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) - the organization that implements LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). The USGBC is a non-profit organization committed to a prosperous and sustainable future through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. USGBC comprises 78 local affiliates, more than 20,000 member companies and organizations, and more than 100,000 LEED Accredited Professionals.

Buildings in the United States are responsible for 39% of CO2 emissions, 40% of energy consumption, 13% water consumption and 15% of GDP per year, making green building a source of significant economic and environmental opportunity. Greater building efficiency can meet 85% of future U.S. demand for energy. The mission of USGBC is to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.

LEED is a certification system that categorizes the level of environmentally sustainable construction in buildings. The LEED green building certification system is the preeminent program for rating the design, construction and operation of green buildings.

Architects, engineers, facility managers, lighting designers, interior designers, landscape architects, construction managers and government officials all use LEED to help transform the built environment to sustainability. By using less energy, LEED-certified buildings save money for businesses and taxpayers, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.

Deco Lighting promotes the specification and installation of energy saving, environmentally friendly and sustainable lighting fixtures & controls in new and retrofit construction buildings, and assists building projects to achieve LEED certification.
